Evolved In Latin America, post war there was greater optimism in society and lead to greater oppurnties democratically and were in a good position after the overthrow of military leaders. These changes were dominated by the ruling elite, who made no oppunrity for the middle class to set up their own business infant it exploited the poor more by the capitalists who owned all production
How did the usa interfere?
Tried to prevent their capitalist views from overturning so marched into protect its own capitalistic interests - it overthrew Guatemalan regime in 1954, for being too soft on socialism, & interfered in Nicaragua Sandinista guerrilla movement (led by a de-frocked priest) sprang up in revolt, spreading to Mexico & Columbia.

Called for greater engaegemtn of the church with the worlds social problems
Religion should be used to make people passive; poor people have the rights for wages/medical help
