Lymphoma Flashcards
What is th presentation of Hodgkin’s lymphoma?
It often presents in young adults with cervical or supraclavicular non-tender lymphadenopathy and pain on alcohol
B symptoms like fever, night sweats and weight loss
Pruritus
What is the Ann arbor system for Hodgkin’s lymphoma?
Stage I – involvement of a single nodal group
Stage II – involvement of two or more nodal groups on the same side of the diaphragm
Stage III – involvement of nodal groups on both sides of the diaphragm
Stage IV – disseminated disease with involvement of extralymphatic organs (eg. the bones or lung
What is the ABXSE staging?
A) if the patient is asymptomatic (B) if the patient presents with B symptoms (fever, night sweats or weight loss; often confers poorer prognosis)
X if there is bulky nodal disease (>10 cm or >1/3 of the intrathoracic diameter)
(S) if there is splenic involvement
(E) if there is extranodal disease
What is the first treatment regimens for Hodgkin?
ABVD = Adriamycin® (doxorubicin), bleomycin, vinblastine and dacarbazine
What is the second line trewatment for Hodgkin’s?
ESHAP (etoposide, cytosine arabinoside, high dose steroid like methylprednisolone and cisplatin)
What is Stage IIIs in Ann Harbor?
Lymph nodes on both side of the diaphragm and affects the spleen
What is stage IIIb in Ann harbor?
Lymph nodes on both side of the diaphragm and has B symptoms
Which lymphoma is strongly associated with immunosuppression?
Burkitt’s lymphoma
What are the AIDS defining cancers?
kaposi;s sarcoma
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, especially Burkitt’s
Invasive cervical cancer
What is the classification system for Non-Hodgkin’s?
Lugano classification
What is the pharmacological treatment prior to autologous stem cell transplant?
Induction therapy given first:
* Targeted therapy (e.g. thalidomide, lenalidomide)
* Chemotherapy (e.g. cyclophosphamide)
* Steroids (e.g. dexamethasone)
Which maintenace therapy is continued for stem cell transplant?
Immunomodulator like thalidomide
