Lung Abscess Flashcards
What is a lung abscess?
A lung abscess is a collection of pus in the lung parenchyma that causes a cavity to form. Commonly in right lower lobe due to aspiration
What is seen on imaging for lung abscess?
An air-fluid level is often seen on imaging due to necrotic debris within the cavity.
What are the risk factors for abscess formation?
Chronic aspiration
Poor oral hygeine
Immunosuppression
Thoracic trauma
What is the most common cause of lng abscess?
Aspiration
What are general causes of lung absence?
