What is Methaemoglobinaemia?
A
there is a higher than normal concentration of MetHb - haemoglobin containing the Fe3+ form of iron, rather than the Fe2+ form. The oxygen saturations will be abnormally low and will not improve with oxygen supplementation; while the PaO2 will be normal or high if receiving supplemental oxygen

What are the clinical manifestations of Methaemoglobinaemia?
A
cyanosis, dyspnoea, headache, dizziness, fatigue, and altered mental status

What is the management of Methaemoglobinaemia?
A
Methylene blue administration first line
Second line is ascorbic acid supplementation
