More common in males More common in Caucasians Obesity Develops from reflux disease, Barrett's and then = adenocarcinoma GORD Smoking/alcohol

More common in lower 1/3
Dysphagia
General Malignancy symptoms= fatigue, wt loss, anaemia

How is adenocarcinoma diagnosed?
A
OCG + Biopsy
Staging: Invasion of oesophagus wall T, Nodes N & Mets M
CT scan: local staging/pulm mets
MRI: local staging
Endoscopic US: investigate nodes, mets more accurately than a CT
Laproscopy
PET- confirms distant mets
