Who gets it?
A
Personal/family history of allergy Asthma Young Males over females Caucasian

How does it present?
A
Corrugated (spotty) oesophagus
Long history of dysphagia, food impaction, heartburn and oesophageal pain

How is it diagnosed?
A
- pH probe negative for reflux
- Increased eosinophils in blood
- Endoscope abnormalities (mucosal furrowing, loss of vascular pattern due to thickened mucosa)
- Endoscopic forceps biopsies should be taken throughout the oesophagus for histology and eosinophillic number calculated
