What is enteral tube feeding?
Delivery of nutritionally complete fee via tube in the stomach duodenum or jejunum
When is ENT given?
-When there is inadequate oral intake but functional ad accessible GI tract
DONT give ENT when?
When there is a lower GI obstruction, prolonged intestinal ileus, sever diarrhoea/vomiting, intestinal ischaemia or high enterococcus fistula
What is parenteral nutrition?
Admission of nutrient solutions via central/peripheral vein.

When is PN given?
When the gut doesn’t work eg short bowel syndrome
What is refeeding syndrome?
Potentially fatal shift of electrolytes and fluid and organ function disturbance which is a result of rapid refeeding after undernutrition
