  • Patients on nicorandil

How does ischemic colitis present?

A
  • Sudden onest of abdominal pain
  • Bright red blood passed per rectum
  • +/- diarrhoea
  • Distended tender abdomen

Diagnosis?

A

Differential diagnosis of other colitis

  • Urgent CT scan- exclude perf
  • Unprepared flexible sigmoidoscopy and biopsy

How is it treated?

A

Symptomatic treatment

Urgent surgery can be needed
