What is unconjugated bilirubin?
Initial breakdown product which circulates into the blood and is then take up by liver
What conjugates unconjugated bilirubin?
The liver metabolises and conjugates the bilirubin
Associated symptoms of jaundice?
Itch Joint pain Abdominal pain Abdominal bloating Bruising/bleeding Dark urine Light or dark stool Tiredness, wt loss, malaise, fever, SOB

What is Gilberts syndrome?

Jaundice develops asymptomatically
Self-limiting, no active treatment
