Paratyphoid fever.

Salmonella typhi or paratyphi

A
People who visit South eat Asia

How does it present?
A
Fever
Non-specific: headache, constipation/diarrhoea
Dry cough

How is it diagnosed?
A
Through blood, stool and urine tests

How is enteric fever treated?
A
ABs
- Ciprofloxacin
- Azithromycin
- Ceftriaxone (70% are resistant to this)

Complications of enteric fever?
A
GI bleeding
GI perforation
Encephalopathy
Bone and joint infection
