What is the brachial artery a direct continuation of?
Axillary artery.
What does the brachial artery begin?
Begins at the lower border of teres major and ends in the cubital fossa by dividing into ulnar and radial arteries, close to the neck of the radius.
The profunda brachii (or deep artery of the arm) is one of the main branches given off passing deep to the triceps muscle, along with the radial nerve.
What does the median nerve arise from?
Arises in the axilla by two roots – one from the lateral cord and one from the medial cord of the brachial plexus.
It descends along the lateral side of axillary artery and upper part of brachial artery.
The profunda brachii (or deep artery of the arm) is one of the main branches given off passing deep to the triceps muscle, along with the radial nerve.
In the middle part of the arm the median nerve crosses to where?
Nerve crosses to the medial aspect of the brachial artery and enters the cubital fossa. It gives off no branches either in the axilla or in the upper arm.
What does the ulnar nerve arise from?
The ulnar nerve arises from the medial cord of the brachial plexus
It descends along the medial side of brachial artery and then it enters the flexor compartment of arm through the medial intermuscular septum
It runs along the medial head of triceps and to the lie behind the medial epicondyle at the elbow.
Are any muscles in the arm supplied by the median or ulnar nerve?
The median nerve just gives off branches.
The ulnar nerve supplies flexor carpi ulnaris.
