. Left side has of IJV less direct route
- Smaller on left
- Higher pleural dome on left side
So more likely to cause damage so use right IJV
Where would you expect the IJV to run in relation to the CCA?
Anterior and lateral
What are the surface landmarks used to identify point of entry for securing a central venous line?
The sternocleidomastoid muscle
