What happens if a citizens declines to file a signed sworn statement?
Reduces the complaint to an informal complaint
What is the role of the Disciplinary Review Board?
To consider all available evidence and make written recommendations to the Chief concerning disciplinary actions.
How are records of formal complaints maintained by PIU handled?
Destroyed after five years after termination unless Chief requests longer file.
How are records of informal complaints maintained by PIU handled?
Maintained for two years or longer if Chief requests.
What is the Chief’s discretion regarding internal investigations during pending civil litigation?
Internal investigations will be held in abeyance unless the Chief believes it’s necessary to preserve evidence.
What can be requested consistent with CBA?
Polygraph, lab tests, etc consistent with CBA
What does PREA require for officers accused of sexual abuse?
Officers accused of sexual abuse should not be in contact with detainees.
Who conducts monthly vehicle inspections?
Supervisors and/or Lieutenants.

They shall be forwarded to Traffic Section for supervisor remediation.

They are kept for 60 days and officers can make written requests to access them

Confirm information on the warrant, check extradition for outside warrants and request fax to jail
What happens if a detainee must be released due to a deputy holding the warrant?
Document the release and send it through the chain.
How are warrants served outside the county?
Contact Central Records and request they send a teletype for an attempt to pick up to the other county.
What is the procedure for serving summonses?
If a summons is served update it to served on ewarrants and print and sign turn it in

They are taken by the Fayette County attorney caseworkers (8:30am
Can citizens obtain felony warrants without a report?
No, they need a report for felony warrants
When can an officer file for a search warrant?
Between 0900 & 1600 M
What is the process for obtaining a warrant in emergency situations?
The clerk will contact the duty judge.
Who is responsible for serving subpoenas on officers?
The department is responsible and central records tracks them
What is the process for serving warrants outside the county?

A citation with charges, court case number and time in court is issued
