Remote Shutdown System Flashcards
In general, what functions/indications are removed when control is transferred to the RSP?
In general transferring to the RSP disables all automatic actions and functions. It also removes MCR controls and indications. Local panel control is also removed for components controlled from the RSP.
Note: there are exceptions to this as noted in another card
What systems can be controlled from the RSP?
RCIC – RPV Level Control
SRVs – RPV Pressure Control – M, F, & H
RHR “B” - Suppression Pool and Shutdown Cooling
SACS Loop “B” - RHR, RCIC/RHR room coolers, RHR motor oil & seal coolers, EDGs
SSW Loop “B” - SACS loop “B”
Chiller BK-400 - MCR, Lower Control Equipment Room, EDG Switchgear, SACS room coolers
Chiller BK-403 - TSC, RSP room, Upper Control Equipment Room
What automatic actions are still in place when control is switched to the RSP?
- RHR SD Cooling cannot be initiated above 82psig. The trip if pressure increases back above 82# is still disabled. (Per IO.ZZ-8, do not exceed 80#)
- Control room chillers will still auto load recycle. This is controlled by the chiller and not by Bailey.
What would happen if RCIC was operating CST to CST and the ‘B’ transfer switch is placed in emergency and where is this indicated?
the RCIC turbine may trip on overspeed, due to F022 (RCIC Test return to CST) closure and min flow valve auto open signal disabled.
RCIC overspeed trip is indicated on the RSP by TURBINE TRIP and BRG OIL PRES LOW
How is the CDR controlled when operating using the RSP?
C/D rate shall be < 90 F/hr by removing steam using RCIC and the SRVs
What should be done with respect to the SRVs before transferring control to the RSP?
Closing the MSIVs before xferring to the RSP ensures that the RSP has control over reactor pressure
What happens to the HPCI system when control is transferred to the RSP?
HPCI is not controlled by RSP, and therefore will not disable any automatic HPCI functions on xfer to RSP
What happens to the B RHR valves that can/can’t be controlled from the RSP?
‘B’ Valves that cannot be controlled from the RSP will close when their emergency transfer is taken to emergency (and DW spray valves for both sides). Ones that do have controls, just stay in their position (SDC, SP Cooling)
What happens to the RHR F006A when A RSP switch is taken to emergency?
It closes
What happens to the F004D and D Jockey pump when D RSP switch is taken to emergency?
F004D opens and The D jockey pump starts
What are the interlocks between F004B and F006B when control is at the RSP?
The F006B must still be closed to open the F004B, but the F006B can be opened regardless of the position of F004B.
What is alternate SD cooling?
having 2 SRVs open with rx pressure >50# above containment using B RHR
When control is at the RSP, what happens to the chillers?
the auto starts are disabled, but the trips are not
What starts when the D RSP emergency takeover switch is taken to emergency?
F004D will open when ‘D’ taken to Emergency and ‘D’ Jockey pump will start
Describe how the interlock changes between F006B and F004B when control is shifted to the RSP.
The F006B must still be closed to open the F004B, but the F006B can be opened regardless of the position of F004B.
