Compressor Impeller Displacement (.008”)
Condenser Refrigerant High Pressure (~220#)(1E - 75#)
Condenser High Water Pressure (~180#) (1E ~60#)
Refrigerant Discharge Gas Temp (~200F)
Evaporator Low Flow 800 gpm (10s TD) (1E - 4 ft/sec)
Evaporator Low CW Temp (Load Recycle) (~42F) (1E - 40F)
Evaporator Low Refrigerant Pressure (~32#) (1E – N/A)
Evaporator Refrigerant Low Temperature (37F) (1E Only)
*With all these clear, the “safety circuit complete”
(white light) will be in
When does the controlled area chilled water pump auto start?
Associated Circ Pump in Auto and opposite loop low flow,
(800 gpm) will start pump (10 Sec Trip TD). *See (H) below.
LOP/LOCA Level 1 (On sequencer)
When does the 1E chilled water pump auto start?
Associated Circ Pump in Auto and opposite loop low flow,
(4ft/sec) will start pump
LOP/LOCA Level 1 (On sequencer)
What occurs in the control area CW/HVAC system during a LOCA Level 1?
- Both CAE fans trip and dampers close
- Control Room normal outside intake air dampers close
- Both CREF fan starts at 30 seconds
- Non-Running CR Chillers start at 60 seconds
- Non-Running CR Pumps start at 65 seconds ( still requires adequate chilled water pump flow)
- CERS fan starts at 70 seconds
- Non-Running 1E Chillers & Pumps start at 75 seconds
- All loads in both loops start
What occurs in the control area CW/HVAC system during a LOP?
- Running chillers trip on UV
- Both CRS, CRRA, and CREF fans start at 30 seconds
- Both CR Chillers start at 60 seconds
- Both CR Pumps start at 65 seconds
- Both CERS fans start at 70 seconds.
- Both 1E Chillers & Pumps start at 75 seconds
- All loads in both loops start.
- CAE fans do NOT start.
What are the CR Chilled Water Pump Trips?
Assoc. chiller motor malfunction/low flow
A(B)VH407 CERS fan low air flow (CERS)
A(B)VH403 CRS fan low air flow. (CRS)
SACS A&C(B&D) Pump rm clr malf.
Associated bus power failure
Trip (or manual stop) of operating fan in associated CWP loop
What are the 1E Chilled Water Pump Trips?
Assoc. chiller motor malfunction/low flow
A(B)P408, 1E Panel Room Air Supply low
Associated bus power failure
What happens when a CR CW pump starts on low flow?
A(B)K400 Chiller starts
A(C)VH214 A&C SACS Pump rm clr starts
B(D)VH214 B&D SACS Pump rm clr starts
C(D) SACS pump starts.
A(B)VH403 CRS Fan starts
A(B)VH407 CERS Fan starts
What happens when a 1E CW pump starts on low flow?
A(B)K403 Chiller starts
A(B)P408, 1E Panel Room Air Supply Unit
A(B)P210 SACS Pumps
When does CREF operate in Isolate?
LOCA Level 1 -129/1.68#
Hi Rad in CR Air Intake (2x10-5uci/cc)
Manual PB
What occurs on a Hi Rad in CR Intake (2x10-5uci/cc)?
Both CAE fans trip and dampers close
CR outside air intake isolation dampers close
Associated division CREF starts.*
*If, non-running division rad monitor trips/INOP, that train’s CREF will NOT start.
How do the operations of the CRS fans affect the associated CREF fans?
CRS fan must be running to start the associated CREF fan in auto.
If the CRS fan trips, the associated CREF and CRRA fans and CACW pump also trip.
What is the purpose of the flash economizer?
provides an intermediate pressure reservoir for liquid refrigerant before it returns to the evaporator
Describe the chiller load recycle.
Chiller stops on low temp, but CW pump continues to run. Chiller will restart automatically. (This even works when transferred to the RSP)
How soon can the restart after being secured?
Anti Restart Timer – Cannot start for 15 minutes after motor start.
What occurs when a chiller start signal is received.
G. After start signal, chiller will start after 51 seconds given:
1. Not In Remote, No Stop Signal, Safety Interlock clear, and CW temp > 42F (40F) (Load Recycle)
2. Start PB will be out the chiller begins to start at 51 sec.
What occurs in the CR CW system when a fan that it supplies is tripped or secured?
A trip or the stopping of any op. fan supplied by CR chilled water will cause a trip of the assoc. cw pump (If in auto).
The 10 sec TD delay does NOT introduce a TD for the auto start signal to the other train. Therefore, it is possible that the other hrCW pump could auto-start without receiving a trip of the in service CW pump.
