Condensate Storage and Transfer Flashcards
when does the condensate STANDBY JOCKEY PUMP auto start?
after a 1.5 sec time delay under BOTH of the following conditions:
* Low Condensate Transfer Header Pressure (140#) and
* High Condensate Transfer Header Flow (50gpm)
when does the condensate LEAD TRANSFER PUMP auto start?
after a 3 sec time delay on an AUTO start signal to the STANDBY JOCKEY PUMP
when does the condensate STANDBY TRANSFER PUMP auto start?
after a 3 sec time delay on Low Condensate Tansfer Header Pressure (130#)
when does the condensate STANDBY JOCKEY PUMP auto stop?
Condensate Transfer Header Flow (<50gpm)
when does the condensate LEAD TRANSFER PUMP auto stop?
after a 3 sec time delay on Low Condensate Transfer Header Flow (100gpm)
when does the condensate STANDBY TRANSFER PUMP auto stop?
after a 3 sec time delay on Low Condensate Transfer Header Flow (300gpm)
As CST demand increases what is the order that the pumps will start to meet the increase demand?
1) Stby Jockey Pump
2) Lead Transfer Pump
3) Stby Transfer Pump
4) “A” Refueling Water Pump
Note: the lead jockey pump is assumed already running
what is the normal operation of the CST jockey pumps?
The lead jockey pump running and the other in standby
What does the CST supply water to?
Supplies condensate to HPCI, RCIC, CS, CRD, and RHR
What amount is required in the CST for HPCI and RCIC and what are the auto swap levels associated with those systems?
Provide a minimum of 135,000 gallons in CST for HPCI and RCIC
1. HPCI auto transfer @ 68,000 gallons in CST
2. RCIC auto transfer @ 70,000 gallons in CST
Describe the flow of water from the CST during refueling.
Transfers water to the reactor well, drier/sep pool, and cask pool, and returns the water to the CST during refuel.
what is the purpose of accumulators in the CSST system?
accumulators support radwaste backwashes and are designed to prevent water hammer.
what are the important levels in the CST?
The CST has a design capacity of 500,000 gallons. The suction line for the jockey transfer and refueling water pumps terminates at a height equal to ~250,000 gallons. The hotwell makup and reject line terminates at a height equal to ~135,000 gallons. Thus, 135,000 gallons are reserved for HPCI and RCIC.
What heats the CST?
aux steam
At what CST level will you lose CRD and hotwell makeup?
135k
