Q

Describe the first process of the secretory pathway

A
  1. Once the proteins in the ER are synthesized they travel into into the ER lumen (inside the ER) & travel to the smooth ER
  2. Secretory vesicles carry the proteins from the smooth ER to the Gogi appartus
  3. The protein in the secretory vesicles will enter the gogi appartus from the cis stack (part that is closest to the ER)

Q

Describe the final part of the secretory pathway

A
  1. Once in the cis stack the protein will travel to the medial stack for further modifcation
  2. After the medial stack the proteins goes to the trans stack (the side furtherst away from the ER) & goes to the lysosome if it has the signal sequence for it
  3. The proteins in the lysosomes either becomes an intergral protein or becomes part of another organelle
