Will continue to drink, even when facing serious health, legal, or family problems
What are alcoholism facts?
Will not stop drinking until they admit there is a problem
Needs help from others to quit
More likely to have problems if drinking at a young age
Effects on family
Stress and bringing up of an alcoholic’s legal, financial, work, school, social, and health problems
What are the effects on school performance?
Lower grades, poor attendance, behavioral problems, depression or thoughts of suicide, and violence
What are the effects on society?
Unemployment, motor vehicle accidents, substance abuse treatment costs, costs for arrest and incarceration, and domestic abuse + child neglect
