o (2nd or 3rd, optimal weight – 60% of adult at least)
• Silent heat so we need proper heat detection
• Housing
o No free range, no area for moving, too big groups, short feeding line
• Feeding
o Fattening feed ad libitum, low protein content, low minerals, etc
• Mikooestrogenes, Fusarium toxins… – ovarian cysts (small, large, multiplex)
• Fattening is not good for breeding gilt –> after one farrowing – slaughtering
• Modern breeds ~ 40-50% gilt selection
• Long lifespan needed to make successful production
