What is the purpose of the MSRs?
- Mechanically removes moisture from the HP Turbine exhaust
- Reheats dried steam almost to initial live steam temperature by passing it thru a bundle of heating tubes
- Minimizes erosion of LPT components as well as the momentum losses due to excessive moisture
- Designed to remove > 98% moisture in cold reheat steam
