Q

What is the purpose of the MSRs?

A
  • Mechanically removes moisture from the HP Turbine exhaust
  • Reheats dried steam almost to initial live steam temperature by passing it thru a bundle of heating tubes
  • Minimizes erosion of LPT components as well as the momentum losses due to excessive moisture
  • Designed to remove > 98% moisture in cold reheat steam
