Bleed Steam/FW Heater Drains Flashcards
What are the HDP trips?
- Extreme Low Level in associated heater
- Turbine Trip
- Overload/Overcurrent
- HMO-564 AND HMO-563 fully closed (Middle pump only)
What is required to start the M HDP?
HMO-564 OR HMO-563 required to be full open (interlock)
Why are there check valves in the bleed steam lines?
Prevents turbine overspeed caused by backflow of steam/water to turbine
What determines which Heater Lo-Lo level will trip the Middle HDP?
The positions of the Suction Cross-ties
When do the HDP ELOs open?
- Opens when HDP Discharge flow is < 1250 gpm back to the condensers (2100 gpm for unit 2)
Does #6 FW Heater have an alternate drain?
No
Where does the #6 FW Heaters receive drains from?
RCDT and HPT
Where do the #5 FW Heaters receive drains from on Unit 1?
MSDT, HPT, and # 6 Heater
Where do the #5 FW Heaters receive drains from on Unit 2?
HPT and #6 Heater
Where do the #4 Heaters receive drains from on U1?
LP Turb
Where do the #4 Heaters receive drains from on U2?
MSDT, HP Turb, and #5 Heater
What will a high high lvl in any heater cause?
Isolated heat input to associated heater
What heaters do the HDPs take a suction from on U1?
The #5 FW Heaters
- N HDP from 5B
- M HDP from 5A or 5B
- S HDP from 5A
This makes sense directionally in the plant
What heaters do the HDPs take a suction from on U2?
The #4 FW Heaters
- N HDP - 4A
- M HDP - 4A or 4B
- S HDP - 4B
This makes sense directionally in the plant
When will Bleed Steam Isolation Valves auto close?
Turbine Trip and Hi-Hi Heater Level
