Lec 2 - Immunoglobulins Flashcards
IgA vs IgE
Isotypes
Different classes of immunoglobulins
Isotypes
Small differences between individuals of same species in the amino acids… Ex) differences between IgA’s
Allotypes
Most numerous immunoglobulin (85%) in serum of human
IgG
IgG and IgM activate blank
Complement
Fragments of Ig for binding
FAB
Ig domain that is a region of heavy or light chain which by aa sequence remains unchanged in chains of the same type
Constant
Ig domain that is a region that is not constant
Variable
Segment of heavy chain between ch1 and ch2 domainst hat is a flexible segment of aa
Hinge region
This is a long heavy chain that is much bigger than IgG and contains a joining chain and is the most convserved Ig
IgM
First Ig in immune response and produce neonate
IgM
This protects the Ig from proteolysis by intestinal enzymes
secretory component
Secretory component facilitates the transport of secretory blank into secretions
IgA
Major function of this Ig is to arm mast cells and basophils for their role in allergic reactions
IgE
IgE does not activate blank
Complement
