Development L15 - tooth development and developing occlusion Flashcards

1
Q

why it is only in specific areas that a tooth forms?

A

The reason for this is down to a couple of transcription factors

The first transcription factor is PitX2 this is very important in tooth development as once oral cavity is formed then it is only expressed in Dental epithelium.

Shh is also over-ecpressed. Shh increaases cell proliferation
