What occurs when an antigen and antibody bind together?
Clumping of red blood cells called agglutination
What is the difference between agglutination and coagulation?
Agglutination is simply the clumping together of RBCs
What is a Major Cross Match?
Taking a sample of blood from a donor and combining it with the plasma of the recipient to see
What is a Minor Cross Match?
Testing the plasma of the donor with the recipient
Which cross matching is the most important one?
A major cross match because it tests what could cause the most problems
What is an individual’s antigen that they have named after?
The blood type that they have
What is known as the universal donor?
Type O blood
What is known as the universal recipient?
Type AB blood
