working class
the bottom level of British society, those who labored in factories and coal mines. They were unskilled and thus deemed replaceable.
white-collar workers
educated and sophisticated office workers who managed the working class
“cult of domesticity”
middle-class women were forced to stay at home as it became a status symbol. pamphlets encouraged women to buy things and make the house perfect as a place of respite for their husbands and be submissive. This gave rise to feminism.
Mass production
making a lot of goods quickly and cheaply for distribution
