Quantitative Data: Based on numbers
Qualitative Data: Describes the characteristics or quality
What is geospatial technology?
Hardware and software that can examine and measure geographic features on the earth.
What are examples of geospatial technology?
GPD, GIS, remote sensing
What is GPS?
-Global Positioning Systems
-A satellite-based navigation system
-Uses signals from a network of orbiting satellites
-Uses coordinates, altitude, speed, and time
What is GIS?
-Geographic Information Systems
-Specialized software tools that allow people to map, analyze, and visualize spatial data
-Allows people to integrate different types of data
-Allows people to analyze data in the context of their location
What is remote sensing?
-The usage of satellite or aerial imagery to collect data on the Earth’s surface
-Helps people collect data in remote, inaccessible, or dangerous areas
