What are definitional boundary disputes?
A boundary dispute that takes place over the interpretations of the original documents that defined the boundary
What are locational boundary disputes?
A boundary dispute over the location of the boundary and the ownership of the land
What are some operational boundary disputes?
A dispute on how to manage the boundary and handle different issues/situations that occur on the boundary
What are some allocational boundary disputes?
A dispute that happens over the use of what is on or in the boundary (such as the ownership of natural resources).

What are the four stages in UNCLOS?
Territorial water, contiguous zone, EEZ, international waters
What is territorial waters?
0-12 nautical miles off the coastline.
States may set laws regulating the passage of ships registered in other states.

What is the contiguous zone?
12-24 nautical miles off the coastline. A state may enforce laws concerning pollution, taxation, customs, and immigration.
What is the EEZ?
Exclusive Economic Zone ; 24-200 nautical miles off the coastline. States have the sole right to the resources found here.
