the aim was to investigate the extent to which good care could make up for poor early expirences in institutions
physica, cog and emotional dev has been assesed ages 4 6 11 15 22-25 years
a group of 52 children from the uk adopted around the same time acted as a control group
findings of ERA study - intellectual impact
when adoptees first arrived in uk they were malnourished and had delayed intellectual developmemt
rates of recovery were re tested at age of 11 whereby ppl adppted older had a worse delay in intellectial dev

findings of ERA study - effects on attachment
adoptees who were adopted agter the age of 6 showed a disinhibited attachment style

procedure of the bucharest early intervention project
attachment was assessed in 95 Romanian children aged 12 -31 months who had spent of their time in institutional care they used methods like the strange sit and family interviews to gain an idea of behaviour of infants
this was then compared to a control group of 50 children
findings of the Bucharest early intervention project
much lower percentage of securely attached and much higher percetage of disinhited attachment
