Stomach: Arterial Supply Flashcards
Along lesser curvature
- Left gastric artery
- Right gastric artery
Along greater curvature
- Short gastric arteries
- Left gastroepiploic artery
- Right gastroepiploic artery
Left gastric artery
- Largest artery to stomach
- Branch of coeliac trunk
Left gastric artery course
- Ascends on diaphragm towards esophagus
- Arches forwards to run along lesser curvature upper part
- Anastomoses with right gastric artery
Left gastric artery branches
It gives ascending esophageal branches
Right gastric artery
- Branch of hepatic artery
- Extends from right to left on lesser curvature lower part to anastomose with left gastric artery
Right and left gastric arteries supply
Run between both layers of lesser omentum and give gastric branches to both stomach surfaces adjacent to lesser curvature
Short gastric arteries
- Branches of splenic artery
- Pass through Gastrosplenic ligament to supply fundus
Left gastroepiploic artery origin
Branch of splenic artery
Left gastroepiploic artery course
Runs from left to right through Gastrosplenic ligament and greater omentum anterior 2 layers along greater curvature
Left gastroepiploic artery supply
- Both surfaces stomach
- Greater omentum
Right gastroepiploic artery origin
Branch of gastroduodenal artery
Right gastroepiploic artery course
Runs to left between greater omentum anterior 2 layers to anastomose with left gastroepiploic artery
Right gastroepiploic artery supply
- Stomach lower part
- Duodenum 1st part
- Greater omentum
