Course and relations
A
- Passes upwards and to left behind lesser sac reaching stomach cardiac end
- Then it descends along stomach lesser curvature between 2 layers of lesser omentum
- Ends by anastomosing with right gastric artery (from hepatic artery)

Branches
A
- Esophageal branches:
- Ascends through diaphragm esophageal opening
- supplies abdominal and lower thoracic parts of esophagus - Gastric branches:
To lesser curvature upper part and stomach adjoining part (excluding pyloric region)
