1. Passes upwards and to left behind lesser sac reaching stomach cardiac end
2. Then it descends along stomach lesser curvature between 2 layers of lesser omentum
3. Ends by anastomosing with right gastric artery (from hepatic artery)

1. Esophageal branches:
   - Ascends through diaphragm esophageal opening
   - supplies abdominal and lower thoracic parts of esophagus
2. Gastric branches:
   To lesser curvature upper part and stomach adjoining part (excluding pyloric region)
