Wide short trunk 1 cm long from front of abdominal aorta opposite 1st lumbar vertebra upper border just below diaphragm aortic opening

Runs forwards above pancreas Omental tuberosity

A
Median arcuate ligament of diaphragm

Relations: inferior
A
Pancreas Omental tuberosity

Relations: anterior
A
Lesser sac (separates it from lesser omentum)

- Diaphragm crura
- Coeliac ganglia and coeliac plexus of nerves
- Coeliac lymph nodes

Divides into 3 branches:
1. Left gastric artery
2. Hepatic artery
3. Splenic artery
