Hepatic Artery Flashcards
1
Q
Course and relations
A
- Runs forwards and to right
- Reach superior border of duodenum 1st part (common hepatic artery)
- Ascends in lesser omentum free border where it lies in front of portal vein and to left of common bile duct (proper hepatic artery)
- Ends at porta hepatis by dividing into right and left terminal branches
2
Q
Branches
A
- Right gastric
- Gastroduodenal
- Supraduodenal
- Right and left terminals
3
Q
Right gastric site
A
- Arises just above duodenum
- Runs to left along stomach lesser curvature between 2 layers of lesser omentum
- End by anastomosing with left gastric artery
4
Q
Right gastric supply
A
- Pyloric region
- Duodenum 1st part
5
Q
Supraduodenal
A
- Inconstant branch from hepatic artery or one of its branches
- Supplies proximal inch of duodenum 1st part
6
Q
Right and left terminals
A
- Pass through porta hepatis
- Supply right and left liver lobes
- Cystic artery arises from right terminal branch and passes behind common hepatic duct reaching Calot’s triangle and gall bladder
7
Q
Gastroduodenal
A
Arises just above duodenum and descends behind middle of 1st part where it is related to:
1. Anterior: 2nd inch of duodenum 1st part
2. Posterior: portal vein
3. On right: common bile duct
Not accompanied by vein
8
Q
Gastroduodenal branches
A
- Superior pancreatico-duodenal artery
- Right gastroepiploic artery
9
Q
Superior pancreatico-duodenal artery
A
Descends in groove between duodenum and pancreas head to anastomose with inferior pancreatico-duodenal artery (from superior mesenteric artery)
10
Q
Right gastroepiploic artery
A
Runs to left between greater omentum 2 layers along stomach greater curvature to anastomose with left gastroepiploic artery
