Definition
- Skin and subcutaneous bag containing:
- testes
- epididymis
- spermatic cords lower parts of both sides - Corresponds to female labia majora
External features: externally
Divided externally into right and left halves by median raphe at its middle
External features: internally
Divided by median septum formed by dartos muscle and fascia between both sides of scrotum
External features: scrotum left side
Hangs lower than right skin is corrugated due to presence of dartos muscle
Layers
From outside inwards
1. Skin
2. Dartos muscle
3. Superficial fascia membranous layer
4. External spermatic fascia
5. Cremasteric muscle and fascia
6. Internal spermatic fascia
7. Tunica vaginalis parietal layer
Atrial supply
- Scrotal arteries: from internal pudendal artery
- Cremasteric artery: from inferior epigastric artery
- Superficial external pudendal artery: from femoral artery
- Deep external pudendal artery : from femoral artery
Lymph drainage
Superficial Inguinal lymph nodes
Nerve supply: sensory
Sensory:
Anterior 1/3 (L1):
1. Ilioinguinal and genital branch of genitofemoral nerve
Posterior 2/3 (S3):
1. Scrotal branches of pudendal nerve and perineal branch of posterior cutaneous nerve of thigh
Nerve supply: motor
Motor:
1. Sympathetic supply to dartos reaching it through Cremasteric nerve (branch of genitofemoral nerve
