What is the Purpose of the Security Diesel?
to supply all necessary electrical requirements for the Dresden Security System without reliance on external sources of electrical power, and to start automatically in the event of a loss of normal power sources.

When does the security system load shed from 34-1?
U3 Div 2 UV and ECCS
What is the normal Security Power Line-up?
34-1 to ACB-1 to 9908-1 (in gatehouse) to 9908-2 (DG Building) and 9908-3 (TSC)
Where does the Security Diesel connect to and the flow path when it is needed?
DG to ACB-2 to 9908-1 to 9908-2 and 9908-3
What is required in order to transfer of security from normal feed to DG?
Dead Bus Transfer
What type of emergency system is used during the loss of Security normal power and the DG loading all required loads?
Security UPS powers all vital loads during period between loss of normal power and power from DG
What is required for the Security DG Auto Start?
C/S in Auto - AND
9908-1 UV w/ ACB-1 OPEN OR
ACB-2 closed w/ C/S in NAT or NAC
What will trip the Security DG?
Overspeed - 2070rpm - Trips fuel and butterfly damper intake
High Water Temp - 205F - Trips Fuel
Lo Lube Oil Pressure - 27psig - Trip Fuel
Overcrank
What is the Security DG Overcrank?
If Engine fails to reach 700rpm in 12 seconds, starters disengage for 12 sec. Cycle will repeat 4 times, then lockout
What must be done following a Security DG Overspeed trip in order to restart?
Air Butterfly valve on air intake must be MANUALLY reset.
How does the Sec. DG Start?
2 independent electric starters and battery system
What provides the lubrication for the Sec DG and it’s cooling?
Engine driven lube oil pump and cooled by jacket water
What provides the cooling for the engine and what cools it?
Cooling from Jacket water system via engine driven pump and an air cooled radiator
When must the Butterfly Air Intake damper be reset?
On an Overspeed Trip
