18
Q

What powers the Halon injection valves?

A

24VDC from XL3

19
Q

HALON TRM - How many initial and extended discharge cylinders are required to be operable for the AEER?

A

8 initial and 5 extended

20
Q

HALON TRM - For the Main Computere Room - How many halon cylinders must be operable?

A

Both.

21
Q

HALON TRM - When is the HALON TRM Applicable?

A

Whenever the projected equipment is required to be operable.

22
Q

HALON TRM - What actions are required if a Halon Subsystem is inoperable?

A

AEER - Dedicated fire watch with backup suppression equipment w/in 1 hour
Main Comp. room - Dedicated Roving Fire Watch w/in 1 hour
AND
restore or evaluate/write IR

23
Q

What is the purpose of the Fire Protection System?

A

Protect plant equipment and personnel from fire hazards

24
Q

What other purpose (other than protection) does the Cardox system provide?

A

Purges U2 and U3 main generators.

25
Q

Where is the CO2 supplied from?

A

Cardox Tank - TB 517 44 line. Refilled from truck connection by nitrogen storage tanks.

26
Q

What is the Cardox tank normally kept at (Temp/Pressure)?

A

0Deg. F, corresponding to 300psig

7.5 ton tank

27
Q

What are the start and stop sets for the CO2 compressor?

A

Start at 305psig, stop at 295psig. This cools the CO2

28
Q

What are the primary flow paths for Cardox?

A

1) Each of the EDGs
2) Each Generator
3) Hose Reels
4) Alternate Supply to AEER
* **EDGs and Generator on one header, Reels on second

29
Q

What is the initiation signal for Cardox to EDG rooms?

A

Auto - Heat Detector
Manual - Pull Station
Manual - Lever Selector Valves

30
Q

How do the Cardox Tank Master Pilot Valves Function?

A

1 for each header (EDG/Gen & Hose Reels)

Normally Energized closed by 125vdc, fail open on loss of 125vdc

31
Q

How do the Cardox Selector Valves function?

A

Used to direct Cardox Header to the required area.
Normally de-energized closed - fail closed on loss fo 125vdc.
Energized to direct CO2 to required area.

32
Q

How can the Cardox selector valves be activated?

A

Auto - Electrically by detection device
Manually - push button by diesel room or exciter
Manually - mechanically by lever in enclosed box.

33
Q

How do the Cardox Hose Reels Actuate?

A

By removal of nozzle from holders, sends signal to open pilot valves. Light illuminates when power is available.

34
Q

How does the Cardox system de-activate?

A

CO2 injected into different areas, which initiates a timer based on size of room and rate of discharge. After timer times out, selector valves close.

35
Q

Cardox Hose Reel initiation sequence?

A

Nozzle removed from holder.
Red light on holder extinguished
CO2 discharge valve de-energizes and opens
bleeder valves close pneumatically after time delay to purge air from piping.

36
Q

What are the safety protection measures for the Cardox Tank?

A

Bleeder valve set to 341psig
Relief Valve set to 357psig
Rupture Disc

37
Q

What provides power to the Cardox system and valves?

A

125vdc 2A-1, circuit 14

38
Q

How does Cardox supply to AEER initiate?

A

MANUAL INITIATION from pushbutton (Main from 2A-1, Reserve from 3A-2, circuit 20; only one set of fuses which must be manually swapped)

  • 60 second delay, 3 minute timer starts initial CO2 discharge, 13 minute times starts extended discharge.
  • CAN BE STOPPED VIA PILOT VALVE LEVER RETURN TO NORMAL*
39
Q

CARDOX TRM - What must be done with one or more CO2 system inoperable?

A

Establish hourly fire watch w/in 1 hour

AND

Restore w/in 14 days or write IR/evaluate

40
Q

Cardox TRM - What is the minimum level and pressure for the Cardox Tank?

A

50% full, 250psig

41
Q

Gaseous FP TRM - How many valves must be able to operate and be found in required position per subsystem to be operable?

A

ALL OF THEM

42
Q

Halon TRM - What is the required weight and pressure (%) for each initial and extended discharge cylinder?

A

95% weight, 90% charge pressure

43
Q

Where are the timers and relays for the DG and Exciter Cardox systems?

A

DG - 2253-53 Panel

Exciter - 2253 - 58 Panel
