Effluent Monitoring Flashcards
What is the purpose of Gaseous Effluent Monitoring?
Provide continuous indication of rad levels and releases of radioactive materials
Give warning when radiation monitors malfunction
provide an alarm when radiation release levels exceed pre-selected levels
What is the power supply for Gaseous Effluent Monitoring Equipment?
U2 ESS powers valve control and pumps for GE monitors
MCC 38-3 powers flow control cabinet, RB Sping, Chimney Sping, and Victoreen valves/pumps
Rad Detectors ALL powered from U2 or U3 24/48 VDC
Battery system ensures that microporocessor memory and stored data maintained during loss of power to unit
What is the normal flow path for the Chimney SPING?
Sample probe from Chimney top - SPING particulate Cs/I filter - Lo Rad and Med Rad Noble Gas Monitor -
GE System Lo Rad Noble Gas Mon
SPING Sample Return Pump to base of Chimney
What is the PHASE I flow path of the CHIMNEY SPING? When is this actuated?
Initiated on 1.04E5 cpm for 10 sec on lo range noble gas detector
Chimney Sample Point - Victoreen System particulate/iodine filters (1 of 2 - swaps every 30 min)
SPIN LR/MR Noble Gas detector - GE LR Noble gas Detector - SPING Sample Pump - Chimney Base
How can the Effluent Phase 1 be reset?
manually reset by pressing SPING -4 button on Victoreen panel when low range noble gas drops below 1000K CPM
What is the SPING PHASE II Flow path? Initiation?
Initiates on 1.04EE cpm on low range, medium range and 200cpm on high range in victoreen for 10 seconds
GE and SPING bypassed - routed directly from SAMPLE point to Victorren
Auto resets to Phase 1 when HR Noble gas detector <58cpm
What is the GE Backup Monitor? What powers the valve control, pumps, and rad detectors?
It is the backup to SPING when SPING is out of service.
Vavle control and Pumps are powered by U2 ESS
Rad detectors powered from U2 or 3 24/48 vdc
What powers the Eberline MCR Effluent monitoring control unit?
Terminal A powered from U3 I/B
Terminal B powered from U2 ESS
