What is the design basis for CAM system?
Monitor and control Zircaloy/Water reaction, which is insignificant below 1600F, is a major source of Hydrogen immediately after a LOCA.
What are the Primary and Secondary sources of Hydrogen production during an accident?
Primary: Zircaloy/Water REaction at Temp >1600F;
Secondary: Radiolytic decomposition of water over long term
What is the purpose of Containment Atmosphere Monitoring?
Monitor for hydrogen, oxygen and radiation during normal and post-accident conditions.
Minimize risk of combustible atmosphere
Why is PC inerted?
Inerted with nitrogent to reduce oxygen concentration to less than that requried to support combustion should H2 concentration reach combustible levels
