- Management of GERD unresponsive to conventional therapy with histamine h2 receptor antagonist blocking agents
- Short term management of active duodenal ulcers

headache, dizziness, diarrhea, abdominal pain, N/V, constipation

Nursing Implications
A
- Advise patient to avoid alcohol, products ccontaining asa, ibuprofen, naproxen, ketoprofen, and foods that may cause an increase in GI irritation
- Assess patient routinely for black tarry stools, diarrhea, abdominal pain, persistent headache
- PO dose is administered before meals preferably in AM. Do not crush, open, or chew capsules. May be administered concurrently with antacids
- Teach patient to avoid hazardous activities if dizziness occurs
