Nursing Implications

Answer 4

1. Teach patient to avoid concurrent use of alcohol and other CNS depressants
2. Assess patient for nausea, vomiting, and bowel sounds prior to and following administration
3. Advise patient to notify MD immediately if involuntary movement of eyes, face or limbs occur
4. PO dose is administered 1/2 - 1 hour before meals and at bedtime
