What happens during ERCP?

A

Fiberoptic endoscope is inserted through the oral cavity into the descending duodenum then to the bile duct and finally the pancreatic ducts are cannulated

A

Diagnostic, pre- or post- cholecytectomy, stent placement, stone manipulation/removal

A
  1. NPO 8 hours
  2. Ensure consent is signed
  3. Conscious sedation or anesthesia
  4. Anesthesia administered immediately prior to and during procedure

  1. Monitor VS
