Promote and protect interests of service users and carers
Respect, consent, no discrimination, appropriate boundaries
Communicate appropriately and effectively
Polite, listen, communicate, share relevant information, use communication appropriately
Work within limits of your knowledge and skills
Refer another practitioner if you haven’t go the knowledge or skills
Develop your skills, follow the law
Continuing professional development
Delegate appropriately
Delegate someone with the skills, experience, knowledge, appropriate supervision
Respect confidentiality
Confidential, permission, law allows it, service user’s best interest/public’s, prevent harm
(Especially when recording people’s information, make them anonymous)
If admit something breaking the law, harming themself or others you can break confidentiality
Manage risk
Identify and minimise risk, reduce risk, health and safety concerns, unacceptable to put people at risk , if physical or mental health affects performance stop practicing
Report safety concerns
Report, support/encourage concerns, follow up concerns, act on concerns
Be open when thing’s go wrong
Apologise, put matters right, give explanation, deal with concerns, helpful & honest
Honest and trustworthy
Easier to help them, be honest, declare concerns
Keep records of work
Records accurate and safe
Refer to clients anonymously
