Cross Cultural, Metal Analysis, Primary vs secondary data Flashcards
Cross cultural methods evaluation
+ Samples from different culture groups
+ Identify abnormal behaviours from biological factors (universal trend)
+ Reduce level of ethnocentrism
- lack validity if diagnosis does not take patients culture in to account
Meta analysis what it is
Draws conclusions from multiple studies
Usually used when lots of psychological research draws conclusions
Studies from variety of places, culture and times all tested same area in psychology
Meta analysis evaluation
+ Huge sample and vast array of different areas = quick and costs less
+ No ethical concerns
- Researcher does not have involvement = undisclosed reliability and validity issues if data they are unaware
- researcher bias impacting validity and often bias against data that had no effect
- increased risk of using data already been scrutinised by peer review
Meta analysis definition
A meta-analysis is a study which takes a large amount of the same type of research, pools together the data and then analyses the data found using secondary data
Primary vs secondary data comparison
Both can collect quantitative and qualitative data
One is directly from researcher and another is second handmo
