Training artificial intelligence Flashcards

1
Q

Chat-up lines

A

The flattering remarks men & women make to start up a romantic conversation with someone they don’t know but find attractive.

That sounds disgusting! Who on earth told you that recipe?
AI is not as intelligent as we tend to think. They use artificial brain cells to roughly imitate real brain cells.
She tells her amusing experiences & bizzare experiments with AI. The book title is what a AI produced when asked to write chat-up lines.

Q

Human/Computer programmer

A

Computer programmers, people who write, or code, the computer programmes used by AI.

If you want to have a computer programme solve a problem you have to have a human programmer write down exhaustive step by step instructions on how to do everything.

Q

Exhaustive algorithms

A

A set of rules or procedures to be followed in problem-solving exercises.

… you have to have a human programmer to write down exhaustive step-by-step instructions on how to do everything. But with ‘machine learning’ you just give it the goal, & then programme figures out via trial & error how it’s going to solve that problem.

Q

Trial & error

A

Repeating the same task over & over again until finding the most successful way.

… you have to have a human programmer write down exhaustive step by step instruction on how to do everything, but with machine learning you just give it a goal & then programme figures out via trial & error how it’s going to solve the problem. There still need to be human involved @ the start of the journey.
We can learn a lot about sth by seeing how it goes wrong.

Q

Minimise

A

Reducing as much as possible.

It was supposed to be minimising the number of wrong answers. Sometimes these algorithms only discover the right answer by a stroke of luck.

Q

Stroke of luck

A

When sth happens by good luck or purely chance.

It was supposed to be minimising the number of wrong answers. Sometimes these exhaustive step by step algorithms only discover the right answer by stroke of luck.
