Sugar Flashcards
Sweet tooth
I have a sweet tooth means I like sugary things.
My little nephew has a sweet tooth. He eats far too many biscuits & sweets. His dentist won’t be pleased!
Processed [foods]
Any food that has been changed in some way by freezing it or by combining foods or putting it in tins or adding chemicals.
The meat in the sausages is highly processed.
Sugars are sometimes hidden in processed foods.
@ a glance
At a glance means with a quick look.
Some food productions have colour coding on the packaging to help you understand the information. Red for high levels of sugar, salt or fat, Orange for medium and green for low. Then you can see at a glance what’s good or bad for you.
I could tell at a glance that I wouldn’t like the food at that restaurant.
[Sugar] free
If sth is sugar free then it doesn’t contain any sugar.
A fat free yoghurt as it says on the label.
@ all costs
If you avoid sth at all costs, then you do everything to avoid it.
I wanted to win the game at all costs!
Demonise
Demonise means to make someone or sth seem very bad.
Politicians shouldn’t demonise their opponents. They often do though, don’t they?
