Hangry Flashcards
Irritability
Irritability is a noun which means being easily annoyed, not in a good mood.
We’ve long recognised that hunger leads to irritability.
English has quite few words which are made by joining two different words together like:
brunch, motel, Brexit.
What do we call these words?
Portmanteau
Merge
Merge means join together.
The wonderful world of social media has merged these two words for us & now we now it as hanger.
I might just merge my fist with your face!
Rage
Rage is another word for being very angry.
I haven’t quite reached the rage yet!
They trigger the rage … .
How’s your mood today? Feeling happy?

Fight or Flight hormones
Fight or flight hormones are the one that the body uses to prepare us to either fight or run away from a dangerous situation.
Aggression or escape.
I can see your fight or flight hormones are kicking in.
Impulsive Behaviour
Impulsive behaviour is when we do things without thinking, without considering the consequences.
I’m off, I’m starving, I’ve got to eat before I do sth impulsive.
Hormones
Hormones are the chemicals we make in our bodies that control certain biological & psychological functions.
As the blood sugar drops, we increase our cortisol & adrenalin so our kind of fight & flight hormones & those have an impact on our brain & the neuropeptides, the things that control our brain, the chemicals in our brains … .
