The Power of Smells Flashcards
Odorant
Odorant, an unusual word for sth that smells.
Deodorant is sth that we buy to cover up what we think of as unpleasant natural smell of our body.
Roja Dove: “When we smell that odorant again it’s like a trigger or catalyst, that will receive the original associational memory.”
Catalyst == Trigger
Catalyst, sth that can make sth else happen.

Someone who smells smells for living.
The smells we experience when we are very young can have a big psychological impact on us even later in life.
Give Off
The phrasal verb give off is often used to describe sth that we broadcast about ourselves without saying anything.
The idea of the message you give off with scent I think can’t be underestimated.
I certainly wouldn’t want to mess with You, judging by the messages you’re giving off.
Underestimate
If You underestimate sth, you don’t give it as much importance as it should have,
You don’t take it seriously enough.
Ah, don’t underestimate the scent of my aftershave!
Not to be Messed with
Not to mess with someone, someone to be taken seriously, & someone You don’t wanna try & trick.
I certainly wouldn’t wanna mess with You!
My suggestion would be to look for very very woody-mossy structured scent called chypres.
If the message you want to put across is that you are someone no to be messed with … .
