subdural hematoma

A

blood between dura mater and arachnoid, venous

acute: w/in hrs of vein tearing, sx worsen w ^ICP
subacute: w/in 48hrs-2wks, ^etoh/old
chronic: wks-months to manifest, ^old, confusion, weakness, seizures

A

complete loss of function below injury
hypothalamus cant regulate temp, becomes room temp
resolves in 7-20 days, maybe permanent
resolution signs: hyperreflexia, spasticity, reflex bladder emptying
