Mod 5: vavlular Flashcards
Mitral valve stenosis
rheumatic fever =pulm htn, rv failure
^afib risk
sob, atrial enlargement, jvd, hemoptysis
mumur at apex->L axilla
Mitral valve regurgitation
d/t mitral valve proplapse, sticking pain
pansystolic murmur s3,4
aortic valve stenosis
inflammatory damage form rheumatic heart disease, congential bicuspid valve
s/s develop when <1cm
xOutflow= pulm htn/edema
snycope/cp
cresscendo decrescendo @2nd ics, narrow pulse pressure
aortic valve regurgitation
d/r aortic root dilation=backflow into LV=^LVEDP, vSBP
chronic-normalized but hypertrophied lv
early diastolic murmur
Endocarditis
staphylococcus aureus, ^incidence d/t prosthetic valves, turbulent blood flow, iv drug use
(damage= inflammation, clotting cascade=vegetation on valves esp may form embolus)
petechiae, splinter hemorrhage, janeway lesions palms/soles, olsar nodules (fingers/toes)
