Limerick
5 line poem written with 1 couplet and 1 triplet
Meant to be funny - often contain hyperbole, onomatopoeia, idoms, puns and other figurative devices. Last line of good limerick contains punch line

Literary device defined as unrhyming verse written in iambic pentameter. In poetry and prose it has a consistent meter with 10 syllables in each line; where unstressed syllables are followed by stressed ones, 5 of which are stressed but don’t rhyme

Sonnets
Sonnet is derived from italian word “sonetto” which means little song or small lyric.
Sonnet has 14 lines written in iambic pentameter. Each line 10 syllables. Generally divided into different groups based on rhyme scheme they follow

Broken into 2 parts
Pctave- First 8 lines with rhyme scheme ABBA ABBA
SESTET- Last 6 lines with rhyme scheme CDCDCD or CDECDE
