- underlying atherosclerosis
- ongoing dilatations
- pre-existing hypertension & weakening wall = **eventual rupture **

Clinical features of ruptured aortic aneurysm

- pain (radiating to back)
- tachycardia
- hypotension
- shock
- distal ischaemia
- death

- FAST USS or bedside USS
- CT angiogram

- Stabilise & Assess
- ABCDE
- rapid diagnostic assessment (USS, CT angiography) - Surgery

- endovascular aneurysm repair
